Heritage Week Feb. 20 - 25

Heritage Week will be a weeklong celebration of the pioneer heritage of our community held February 20-25 at the Mall at Piccadilly. People of all ages will enjoy a week of local heritage displays, entertainment and the antique appraisals and silent auction held on Thursday to Saturday. Families can join in the fun on Saturday starting off with a Pioneer Breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30am hosted at Jane’s Place and a children’s craft station, face painting and gold panning station from 10:30am – 2:30pm. The award winning SA Model Railroad Association display will be open 10:00am to 4:30pm showcasing our local railroad heritage.

Peter Blundell, a fully accredited antique appraiser from Vernon will perform informal verbal opinions of value on your items and offer specialty advice during Heirloom Discovery Days, Thursday to Saturday from 10:00am – 4:30pm. The appraisal cost per item is $14 + GST and appointments will be taken on a first come first served basis.

The ‘Old Fashioned Pie’ baking contest is back on Saturday February 25; drop off is from 10:30 to 11:30pm at center court with a chance of winning one of the top three prizes for the 'best pie' in the 2012 contest. Categories for this year’s pie contest are apple, fruit and berry. Back by popular demand is the  ‘Best of the Shuswap’ pie auction at 12:30pm where winning pie bakers from past years feature their famous pies for public auction. Slices of the winning pies will be available to the public at 1:00pm and The Dust Puppets will perform at 1:30pm.
